Design

The design of the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ and Redmi Note 11 Pro+ is identical to that of its non Plus siblings.

Redmi Note 12 Pro+ eliminates clutter on the back compared to its predecessors with only three cameras. So there are no additional design elements contributing to the bulk at the rear. By comparison, the Redmi Note 11 Pro+ featured a complex array of sensors on the rear housed in its rectangular camera module. Similar to what we mentioned for all the new models in the Redmi Note 12 series, the design of the Pro+ looks much more refined and premium this year.

The dimensions of the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ are similar to those of its non-Plus sibling. But the main difference here is the thickness. The Redmi Note 12 Pro+ is significantly thicker than its predecessor, with a 9mm body. It is also quite heavy at 208 grams.

Like all models in the Redmi Note series range over the past two years, the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ is also IP53 certified. So you don’t have to worry about dust or splashing water damaging your smartphone. The new Pro+ model comes in Black, Blue White, and a special Trend color edition, while the Redmi Note 11 Pro+ comes in Mysterious Black, Forest Green, and Timeless Purple color options.

Display

The Redmi Note 12 Pro+ model has an identical screen to its non-Plus sibling. So it comes with a 6.67-inch OLED panel with 2400 x 1080p resolution, 120Hz refresh rate and 900 nits HBM brightness. In comparison, the Redmi Note 11 Pro+ model came with a similarly sized 6.67-inch AMOLED panel with 2400 x 1080p resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. brighter at 1200 nits compared to the new Note 12 Pro+.

Specifications and software

The Redmi Note 12 Pro+ features a more powerful MediaTek Dimensity 1080 processor clocked at 2.6 GHz. As a reminder, the Redmi Note 11 Pro+ had the Dimensity 920 processor inside clocked at 2.5GHz. Both of these processors can support 5G networks and should deliver very good performance for its price segment.

The Redmi Note 12 Pro+ also upgrades the memory configuration. This year, it only comes in two variants, an 8GB model with 256GB of ROM and a high-end 12GB + 256GB option. In comparison, the Redmi Note 11 Pro+ comes in several options, including a 6GB base RAM and 128GB ROM. The old Redmi Note 11 Pro+ maxes out at 8GB of RAM in terms of configuration.

The Redmi Note 12 Pro+ also comes with the latest Android 12 operating system out of the box with MIUI 13 on board. The Redmi Note 11 Pro+ featured Android 11-based MIUI 12.5 on top.

Camera

The Redmi Note 12 Pro comes with a downgraded 50MP sensor compared to the 108MP sensor found on its predecessor. But with the Pro+ model, Redmi has decided to step it up a notch by using a massive 200MP main camera with an f/1.7 aperture. The two remaining cameras are the same as its predecessor, which includes an 8MP f/1.9 ultra-wide shooter and a 2MP macro shooter.

In comparison, the Redmi Note 11 Pro+ model had a 108MP sensor with an f/1.9 aperture lens.

On the front, Redmi hasn’t brought any upgrades to the new model. So, both phones have the same 16MP camera for selfies and video calls.

Battery

The battery department of the new Pro+ model gets a capacity upgrade. Unlike the 4500 mAh capacity found on the Redmi Note 11 Pro+, the new Redmi Note 12 Pro+ comes with a 5000 mAh battery. Charging speed remains the same as before, 120W, but it’s good to see an upgrade in battery capacity.

Price

The Redmi Note 12 Pro+ model is available in the Chinese market with an official starting price of around €300 or $300. But retailers like Giztop have already listed the device for around $350. By comparison, the Redmi Note 11 Pro+ is currently selling for around $320 globally.
